Insane Pace; Slow down . . . Here's how!

Posted on Jul 4th, 2008 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen

Have you noticed how much faster everything seems to be going?  Perhaps you feel like you are running as fast as you can and can’t get everything done you need to do?  Do you have enough time for you to enjoy your life?

It seems every time I am around clients and family or friends there are those who are desperately trying to do everything they need to do to keep up with their surroundings.  This can be exhausting, and is probably not the best way to stay healthy and fit.

During the last few years, numerous energy drinks have come on the market too; all with an aim and focus on keeping you going.  Drinks with names like Rock Star and Monster are in the cold drink cases in most convenience stores.  Lattes are now being consumed with double and triple shots of espresso and hefty doses of sweeteners.  I have to wonder if these drinks that are targeted at increasing our energy can really be good for us?

What would happen if we embraced slowing down and doing less instead of trying to keep up with the rapidly expanding universe?  If there was a way you could be as effective and productive as you are now, or more effective and productive, with 20-50% less effort, would you want to embrace that experience and opportunity?    If I could show you how to get all the energy you need and more without consuming chemicals to get you there would you be interested?

Years ago when Thomas Leonard was alive, (Thomas is considered by many to be the father of the coaching profession),  he began talking about the Absence of You concept.  The idea was to take away anything that was not serving you so you could be the best you could be.  Thomas understood and taught that real effectiveness in life was fueled by passion instead of adrenaline.

When you begin eliminating all of the things in your life that are not consistent with or congruent with your intentions, an interesting thing happens; you will experience much more energy and time too!

Most of us live from the view point that when we do this or add that to our already busy and cluttered lives we will then have what we need or want.  This stalling tactic is really nothing more than an energy thief.

Here are my top 10 ways to slow down that insane pace and enjoy the resulting peace;

1.  Become very clear about what you want in every aspect of your life.  What do you want in terms of relationships, your physical being, your mental and emotional being, your financial well being, and your spiritual well being.  You get to choose.  Consider using my e-course on Choosing Consciously if this is a challenge for you.  It’s available at this link;     http://www.rockitcoaching.com/rockit-fuel/

2.  Get that most of the aspects of your life as you’re currently experiencing it are driven by your unconscious programming that was accumulated during the first 7 years of your life.  It’s no longer relevant!  (If you would like to lose it quickly and effortlessly consider booking a session with me or a consciousness shifting coach.  ( http://www.rockitcoaching.com/rockit-fuel/ )

3.  Whenever you are considering doing something, ask yourself the following question: “Is the action I am considering one that moves me closer to or further from my desired end result?” If the answer is anything other than yes, consider eliminating this task from your to-do list.

4.  Take a look at your to-do list and sort it into 4 categories as follows: To do immediate time frame, (within the week) /to do maybe someday (to be reviewed weekly and moved if appropriate) /delegate it / and dump it.  Take the prescribed action for each category.

5.  Notice every time you think you should do something and ask yourself “why”?  Repeat step #3.

6.  Notice what you’re tolerating.  Write down for a week everything you’re putting up with and then choose to begin eliminating.  Once you have your list, place each item in different categories like financial, environment, relationships.  Ask yourself for each category what one action you could take that would eliminate several of the items on your list.  The focus on clearing tolerations from your life will give you lots of energy and time for other things.  Tolerations lists are great because they cause you to become aware.  Just in becoming aware things begin to change.

7.  Define what success means for you.  Most of us are externally referenced and we measure our value by things that are external reference points.  These points are on shaky ground and always subject to change.  They cannot and will not ultimately lead to success.  If the concept of external verses internal reference is foreign to you or if you would like some help with this, check out my e-course  Defining Success for Yourself, available at this link:  (http://www.rockitcoaching.com/rockit-fuel/ )

8.  Notice if you live your life with a need to please others or if you choose to please yourself.  Pleasing others when need driven, is a black hole and no matter what you do, it’s never enough.  You are the one measuring the not enough piece of this and you are the one depleting your life force.  When you live your life to please yourself, (note we are not talking selfish consumption here), your choices are energizing.

9.  Tell yourself the truth.  Do you really want to do what you’re doing or is there another choice that would make your heart sing.  Choose what makes your heart sing.

10.  Let go of past mistakes and regret.  Being in this moment is the only place to be, as this is where the action is!  Should haves, could haves, and would haves are not taking you where you want to go.  In fact they are taking you away from what you most desire.  (If you’re holding on to the past or experiencing regret or remorse we can clear it quickly with consciousness shifting).  www.karenvizer.com

Love

Posted on Feb 17th, 2008 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
February is a time when we often have thoughts of love.  Valentine's  Day has become the day you  gift your beloved with candy, flowers, jewels, or other gifts that commercially represent how much you care for that person.  It presupposes you are in a relationship with someone you need to gift and this time of year can create angst for those who are without a relationship partner.

I have been single since the death of my husband Peter over 5 years ago.  This holiday has not been as difficult for me as it may have been after his death. My sense is that is because Peter told me when we got together that his preference was to give gifts when he felt inspired to do so, rather than when a commercial holiday dictated gift giving.  He communicated his preferences in a way that caused me to be free of the usual expectations about gifts and giving.

Our culture, particularly in the United States is one that programs us to look outside of us for signs of love.  We are taught to sacrifice ourselves for others and told that being selfish is wrong.  The habit of measuring who we are based on how others respond to us in rampant too.

We are pummelled by the media with images of happy couples in various activities and given multiple messages about what love is and what is should look like.  The songs we listen to often speak of love gone wrong too.

What I have learned and embraced since Peter's death is that love is an inside job.  No one can give us the love we are looking for.  We must give it to ourselves.

In order for us to live the full essence of ourselves and be unconditional love towards others we must first love ourselves.  I often play in this area with clients and we find dis-resonance with the possibility of love.  Many of us are wired with the programming that says "I am not lovable"  or  "it's not safe for me to love"  It;s interesting to note that we this is not necessarily what we think, it's how our body or field has been wired from the past.

I was having dinner with friends a couple of nights ago and my friends guy admitted to holding back in their relationship because he was "not ready to risk his heart again"  He had been engaged to a woman who broke it off at the last minute several months ago.  It's interesting because it is very common for us to hold back a part of us because we are not trusting.  Yet in that holding back we limit what's possible for us to experience.

This year one of my intentions is to experience and live deep and profound love.   I also have an intention to explore this topic with clients and friends to see where it will take us.  I have teamed up with one of my colleagues and we are hosting a free teleclass on love on Tuesday the 19th of February.  We will record it and make it available to anyone who would like to participate and there's room on the bridge line to be part of the live call.

Abundance and Reserves

Posted on Feb 16th, 2008 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
I have been thinking about these two words and what they mean and how they are related.   Often when we think of the term abundance, we think of money or wealth, but truly abundance relates to having enough.  As a coach I want my clients to have reserves in all areas of their lives.  Having enough to just get by is simply not good enough nor will it create the kind of extraordinary life that is possible when one moves out of scarcity.

Reserves apply to all areas of our life; material and non-material.  Reserves of time allow spontaneity; reserves of money prevent fear and allow flexibility in regards to what one does with their time.  A reserve of energy gives you enough personal power to take advantage of the situation you are in and to enjoy your life.  Reserves of household items and food will carry you through an emergency or disaster.  Reserves of emotional strength allow you to be there for someone and be truly present when it makes a difference.

Abundance is similar to reserves in many ways.  If a person has a to-do list that is so long he can never imagine seeing the end of it, he us certainly not in abundance with regard to time.  If you are someone who is under a great deal of stress that is imposed by other demands on you, you will deplete your personal power and emotional strength as you meet the demands.  If you are a person who never has time for themselves, you are not living an abundant life.  If complaining about the situation you are in is part of your routine, you will not be in a place to notice everything you have to be grateful for nor will you feel particularly blessed with abundance.

How is a life with abundance and reserves created?

Certain qualities are inherent in an abundant life.  These include, and are not limited to, courage, gratitude, clarity, patience, openness, consistency, acknowledgment, enthusiasm, respect and having fun.

We have been conditioned over our lifetime to have beliefs that limit the abundance in our lives.  This programming becomes a hidden internal motivator and creates scarcity in the areas where we most crave reserves.

You can turn this around and create abundance where there has been scarcity; here are some ways I have addressed this in my own life:

  • Be aware of what limiting beliefs or scarcity patterns you are living with.  Awareness always precedes change and when you begin noticing what you are thinking, you can change your thoughts.  Working with a life coach who knows how to consciousness shift will help you find and shift the negativity and limiting patterns.
  • Tell Yourself the Truth of What is.  You must be willing to look at your life or situation from this perspective.  If you do not acknowledge where you are, it’s difficult to create new possibilities.
  • Change your operating system from a do, have, be mode to a  be, have, do mode.  This is a very important distinction because in the first you are doing (your to do list), in order to have something, so you can be someone.  When you leave do do land you create the space for being and inspired action.
  • Identify your intended result; I call this starting with the end in mind.  When you know what your intention is (where you want to be) and how you will measure it (know you have arrived), you will find that your results will manifest rather magically and effortlessly.
  • Keep an abundance journal.  This is also knows as a gratitude journal and it will make a huge difference in your life.  Every day list the 10 things you are grateful for and then list another 5 things that you can acknowledge yourself for.  Gratitude and acknowledgement are powerful tools in this process.
  • Remember that you are bigger than your problem.  Move, dance, breathe, take a walk, be in nature, play with your dog, do anything that will shift your energy from the heaviness you feel and allow the wisdom of your higher self to come to your assistance.
If you would enjoy exploring this topic more fully consider joining us for our 7 week Attracting Abundance and Reserves tele-class program that begins on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 11AM Pacific time.

What emotion hits you the most deeply?

Posted on Oct 4th, 2007 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 03, 2007:

I am not sure about this question.  It seems we often mix up emotion and feelings or the sensing capacity of the body especially when dealing with what we might  lable a negative emotion.

Emotion is a response to something that happens, an event.  I have had the experience of being very emotional or feeling emotional about something and also the experience of the story going around and around.  I used to also feel frustrated at the idea that I should be able to do something.  Fortunately that is not part of my way of being these days.  I have learned that when I am fully present to what I am feeling or sensing . . . even to that which has had an emotional charge . . . the quality of what I am sensing changes and I drop into that place of oneness with all that is.

Feeling or sensing seems somewhat different than emotion and requires being totally present to the sensory experience we are having.  So, the feeling or sensation that hits me most deeply . . .  well there are many, love, gratitude, peace, passion, joy, wonder . . .awe of the magic of being alive-
with love and gratitude

so much fun!

Posted on Oct 4th, 2007 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
I have been stepping out lately in new ways and I am having so much fun.  Two weeks ago I began taking West Coast Swing dance lessons in Palm Springs.  The lessons are given as group lessons at one of the local resturaunts.  My friend Jill and I went to the first class and it was so much fun--this week I went to class #2 of 6 and again had a great time.  The classes meet on Tuesday night for an hour and you rotate dance partners so you get to dance with the good and not so good.   They, the class instructors say it's good practice for the real world of dance.  i say it's fun meeting new  people.

I took ballroom dance class a couple of years ago and my teacher was very biased and did not like west coast swing, so I had naturally assumed he was right about it and there was no need for me to concern myself with this dance.  YIKES!  That assumption caused me to ignore that possibility for at least 3 years.

One Sunday  a few weeks ago, Jill and I watched an intermediate West Coast Swing class and I was hooked!  I realized immediately that I wanted to be able to dance this dance.

So, now I am taking a good look at what else I may be assuming . . . this gets back to that whole idea of 100 things to do, have, be, or experience before exiting the planet.  I am checking in to be sure I have cleaned my assumptions about things out!  I am wondering what other wonderful opportunities I am saying no to if any by holding assumptions.

Last night we went to Salsa class at the casino in town.  Again fun, fun, fun!  It was a great class with amazing people and we were actually dancing salsa!  Wednesday night salsa class may become a ritual!  I stayed and watched the class that followed the basic one and the dance is so sexy and beautiful.  This week I have added 2 items to my list of 100 and they are about becoming proficient in both dances.

With love and gratitude ~

i water

Posted on Sep 28th, 2007 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
Angel the canine princess and I started drinking i water about a week ago and I am so amazed at the differences we are noticing.  Angel's vet calls her "a blonde" because she has sensitive skin and it a bit allergic to some of the pollens here in the desert.  Every so often the itching hits a level that has required drugs in the past.  This is not a solution that makes me happy as I would always prefer a natural approach to healing.

Anyway, our i water system arrived from BioPro last Friday and we fired it up.  I had sampled the water when I was in Hawaii and knew I liked it.  I just had no idea of the benefits Angel and I would experience in one short week.

Here's what we are noticing is different-

Angel is no longer itching!  This alone is worth the investment and I am so happy she's more comfy!
I went to a yoga class on Saturday and found that I was more flexible than I have ever been in my life.  This was stunning.  I have never been able to reach beyond my chins when engaging in some of these postures and there I was reaching beyond my feet.  so I tried touching my toes . . . this is another life long challenge and I was able to put my palms on the floor.  Something was changing in me and changing quickly.

Then a friend saw me who had not seen me for about a week and she said I looked younger-
in fact she was so impressed she bought an i water system too!

Wednesday I had an intuition to get on the bathroom scale to see where my weight was and I was 5 pounds lighter without  trying to lose weight.

It's amazing what good hydration does for us.
And I am wondering what we will notice after another week on the water.

Who You Are is Not What You Do

Posted on Sep 17th, 2007 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
I have been having an interesting exchange with a friend.  It's all
about how we create our lives in a particular way, and then wonder why
certain patterns continue to be present  even though this is not what
we say we want.

The conversation began with the question of polarity–which is the state of judging right
wrong
good bad black white–the whole state of having a strong opinion with a
charge about something, instead of being the observer and noticing your
preferences.

In my view this is a state of being that is constructed by the
ego when we are young as a survival tool in what was perceived as an unsafe
world.
The ego does a fantastic job of trying to keep us safe.  This is often
modeled by a parent  or authority figure and we often take on states of
being unconsciously because on some level it feels safe-

The thing is, this is not who you are–it is what you do–and that's an important distinction.

 .
. . if someone is acting jealously , we may say they are a jealous
person, yet this is just a state of being that is driven by the need
for safety, it's not who they are . . .

 . . . if someone is
showing anger, again this is a state of being, all anger is really
toward the self and this outward action is just a reaction and has
nothing again to do with who a person is.

So, how do you
stop doing something that is so much a part of you it's unconscious and
you're in it before you know it because it is a reactive posture-

YOU BREAK THE NEURAL PATHWAYS THAT SUPPORT the HABITIATION of this PATTERN!

How you can do that is what I, and my work with Consciousness Shifting are all about -and it's easy!

THEN YOU REPLACE THE OLD NEURAL PATHWAY WITH ONE THAT IS BASED IN LOVE
Again an easy job!

We recently did a teleclass that was introductory for our signature program Reinventing Yourself, that begins this week.

If you're interested in how to do this you can use this link to have an introduction to and experience of Consciousness Shifting.  Just listen like you are in real time and on the call when it's happening and you can tag along and get what the call participants got too!

Consciousness Shifting

Posted on Sep 13th, 2007 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen

We just finished leading another teleclass and I am always humbled and blown away by the power of this work we call the Rockit Method of Consciousness Shifting.  The funny thing about it is that our understanding continues to grow and evolve and we are more laser than ever with the work.  I love the idea of getting to something quickly, shifting it and having lasting, sustainable change which is exactly what happens with this method.  It takes a lot of courage to embrace this work and when you do everyone wins and that is a great feeling.

With this work we create a state of being without limitation!

Collecting Things

Posted on Sep 12th, 2007 by Karen : consciousness shifter/power partner Karen
I am in the process of selling my home and I have spent the last week or so downsizing and looking at things  from the viewpoint of do I love this or need this.  If I can't say yes to one of those questions I am choosing to recycle via donation to charities or gifts to friends.

I am amazed at how much stuff I have collected since moving into this home and how much better I feel having begun to clear clutter.  Moving is one of the most stressful things we can do and I am beginning to think that much of this stress has to do with all the stuff we choose to take with us when we move.

Why I am selling?  The answer is simple, I want to simplify my life and reduce my carbon foot print and I want to have a new living experience.  I want this home to be in the hands of someone who will love and steward it as I have.

The brokers are coming today for a luncheon and I have been removing things all week so that the lines of the house show up in better detail.  It will be interesting to hear the feedback.  So far, I have taken about 3 car loads to the local resale shops that support different area charities, have given some things away to friends and have about 10 boxes packed in the garage.

My home is a beautiful midcentury, bohemian, modern home that was designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, a woman by the name of Claire Henry Day.  The home was designed in 1964 and  all of the walls are at obtuse angles.  It's a great entertaining home with 3200 square feet and a great pool spa and decks and fantasitc views.

I know the perfect buyer is out there and would love it if you would hold the intention and vision with me to attract the perfect buyer at the perfect price.

Thank you
With love and gratitude,
Karen
